Electricity Bill Relief Scheme From 1 December: Get Up To 100% Discount

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has introduced the Electricity Bill Relief Scheme 2025–26 with the aim of easing the financial strain on the long-tolerated or not-paid bills of the domestic and small commercial consumers. The scheme is open for registration from December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, and it presents a unique chance for customers to settle their debts through a comfortable method. The initiative not only intends to lessen the pressure of the accumulated bills on families and small enterprises but also assists UPPCL in the collection of a substantial amount of debts.

Key Advantages to the Scheme

One of the major advantages of the scheme is that the participants do not need to pay any charges that are added to the original bill amount due to delay in payments or high interest. The surcharge, and interest along with penalties for late payment, which are usually increasing the old bills many times than the original consumption charges have all been waived off for this relief scheme. Moreover, those who pay the principal dues early — especially within December 2025 — can earn a discount of 25% on the principal bill amount. The rebate percentage will decline gradually in the following phases. The scheme is also providing easy installment options for those who cannot pay the total amount at once; allowing them to pay small amounts such as ₹500 or ₹750 monthly. Even low-income households will be able to benefit from the scheme as it is now made accessible to them.

Who Can Avail the Benefit?

The scheme is meant for the specific domestic users having a connection of up to 2 kW (LMV-1) and commercial users of up to 1 kW (LMV-2). It will include customers who have not paid their bills for a long time, customers who have never paid their bills since connection, and even customers with temporarily disconnected accounts. UPPCL may provide more accurate billing to consumers through average consumption, in case of meter problems or technical faults causing inflated bills, by adjusting the dues.

How to Apply and Avail the Benefits

In order to get the benefits of the scheme, the consumers have to register through the official UPPCL portal or go to the electricity division office that is nearest to them. In some cases, a very small registration fee might be charged. Once the consumers are registered, they can either go for the one-time settlement that will give them the highest rebate or the monthly instalment plans that are more convenient for them. It is very important to register as early as possible because the largest discounts, including full surcharge waiver and maximum 25% principal rebate, are only available in the initial stage.

Why the Scheme Matters

The accumulated electricity bills have become the financial burden for lakhs of households and small shop owners. This scheme opens a door for clearing dues at a low cost, restoring electricity connections, and starting anew without heavy penalties. On the part of UPPCL, the scheme is a way to recover billions in long-pending dues and also to gain some compliance from consumers in the future. Overall, the Electricity Bill Relief Scheme 2025-26 is a win-win situation for both the consumers and UPPCL; financial relief and better energy governance throughout the state are the results.
